Book and paid for return trip ticket for the family's holiday.

We have booked and paid for the family's holiday. It is a bit scary to pay such an amount via online payment over the airline's website and this is the first time we did it. Usually we are used to visit our travel agent and let them handle the booking and make payemnt at their office.

The airline sent an email to confirm the booking, travel details, passenger info within hours after payment being made online. All we have to do is print out that email, bring it to the Auckland Airport before checking in to get the boarding pass. We will be away for about five weeks from New Zealand for the vacation.

Welfare cheat cauhgt on Facebook.com in New Zealand

You can cheat people some of the time but you cannot cheat all the people all the time. This is the saying that proved to be true.

A young lady who claimes to be a solo mom (that is what we call single mother in New Zealand) and claims up to NZ$480 per week instead of NZ$140 a week (as she is legally staying with her partner)! She was "careless" enough to annouce to the world of her real life relationship with her partner.

She is convicted by the court of law for welfare cheat, thanks to facebook.com and bebo.com. This is something like what you read on the interent about "stupid criminals". Read the full story here.

What is the world's smallest street legal car?

Created by the Peel Engineering Company in 1962 the The Peel P50 is the world's smallest street legal car. The car is only 53 inches long and 39 inches wide and weighs a feathery 132 pounds. The Peel P50 can reach staggering speeds of 40 MPH on it's three wheels. The only drawback is the car has no reverse gear, but with the attached handle it's easy to maneuver it yourself.

Every Noka E71 owner will kill for this (David Lim, Auckland, New Zealand, NZ)

Ever since I started this blog I haven't had much access to a Windows computer. My hard drive crashed and I had to use Linux Ubuntu for almost half a year. All the PC applications that Nokia makes only work on Windows or Mac, no love for Linux. So I really haven't been able to try out some of the cool features like Files On Ovi.

What Is Files On Ovi?

Basically it allows you to access files on your computer directly on your Nokia E71 when your away from home (or work, if your company allows it). You have to install a "connector" on your computer, and as of right now it's only compatible with Windows. According to Nokia,

With Files, you use your mobile phone to view, download and send the photos, documents and files stored on your personal computer, anytime, anywhere. You can also use any other Internet-connected computer to access your computer's files.

Great thing is you can also use this to view your computers files from any other computer with a data connection, not just your E71.

By far, this is the best took that helps me to supercharge my GDI online marketing business and had help to improve my long term income!

Right now you can access your files for free if your computer is on and connected to the internet. But if you want to be able to access your files even if your computer is off or disconnected from the internet, you can sign up for a pay-based subscription and have 10gb's of storage. You can try that and get 60 days free.

The other day I tested this service while at work. I was missing a song I recently added to my computer and wanted to hear it on my E71. Remembering that I left my computer on at home, I was able to view my files. Check out the sceenshots below. You'll notice my new Windows computer is called "The Monstor", going along with my 22 inch monitor that I'm loving right now.

Music Files On My Computer

Download Entire Folders At A Time

I downloaded that entire folder and calculated the transfer time at around 22 minutes - not bad at all for 43.9 megabytes. I've decide this should be a "must have" tool on everyone's E71. I've already used it multiple times to pull off excel and word documents from my computer when out and about.

To login you must have a "Nokia Account", which is the same one you use to login to Ovi Calendar & Contacts. This is not the same account as your Share On Ovi account.

Do you live in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, or Australia? If so, you can join the Files On Ovi campaign for S60 Ambassadors. Talk about the service with your friends, family, co-workers, etc and just go back to your S60 account and write up a quick report of each interaction. The more reports you write the more points you get. If your in the Top 50 list for submitted reports you get prizes (bluetooth goodies). Click here to learn more information about the S60 Ambassador campaign for Files On Ovi.

Have you tried Files On Ovi yet?

Connecting the remote Papua New Guinea, GDI Online Marketing, thekiwi

Isolated spot
Eight hours flying time from the Indonesian capital, the Central Highlands in Indonesia's Papua province are among the least visited places in the world. Life here bears little relation to the chaos of Jakarta's skyscrapers and toll roads. In villages like this, there are usually no permanent roads, no electricity and no phones. Foreign journalists need a permit to travel here. Getting information into - and out of - areas like this has not been easy.

Radio contact
But information should flow more easily into the Central Highlands now. People are gathering here from across the area to celebrate the opening of an independent radio station. Officials say it is the first one to be built in such a remote region. It will be linked to the independent radio news agency KBR68H, and will be staffed by local people - all of whom have been trained from scratch.

Gaining trust
There was a lot of scepticism at first about the benefits of building the station. Promises of development have often gone unfulfilled here and many local people are angry at what they see as neglect from the central government in Jakarta. Papua generates large amounts of money thanks to its vast natural resources, but the region remains desperately under-developed.
The editor of KBR68H, who spearheaded the project, says it took many meetings before locals began to trust in it.

Electricity supply
One of the key problems in building the station was the lack of power. This is an area where most people live in traditional thatch huts, and rely on wood fires to keep warm and cook food. The team behind the project decided the only solution was to build a mini-hydro-electric dam to power the station. There was enough electricity left over to channel some to the school, the church and the more modern houses of several local leaders.

Changing dress
Several people wear traditional dress here, but others - especially children - wear Western-style T-shirts. One man, dressed in a traditional penis gourd, head-dress and beads, told me he was tired of sleeping on the ground in his hut and wanted a modern house and proper roads.
"When that happens," he said, "I'll change the clothes I wear and wear T-shirts instead."

Pig economy
This is an area so cut off and under-developed that there is neither much money nor much day-to-day value in having it. Most people are subsistence farmers and the community is built on a pig economy. For the opening of the radio station, locals celebrated with a traditional pig roast.
Nine pigs were brought to the party, by tribal leaders, local officials and neighbouring villages. One pig can be worth the equivalent of $2,000 (£988).

Outside world
Without phone connections or frequent visits from outsiders, getting information from areas like this used to be slow and difficult. Now rights workers say the radio station will make it easier to connect with the outside world - to share allegations of abuses, develop the local economy and stay in touch with events outside of Papua. People may have been isolated for generations, but many are keen to know what is happening in Jakarta and beyond.
