Why You Should Not Leave Facebook For Google+ — Top Reasons and Issues

Its not really a question if Google+ is popular but rather, is it already popular across the netizens around the world? As you can see, several reports have surfaced that not only the new social-networking is only concentrated on men, it appears G+ still haven’t penetrated the large teen group as well as the non-techie individuals who composed the tens of millions of users in Facebook.

Google_users_20_million

If you’ve been following the news for Google Plus this week, the company officially announced last Wednesday it already acquired 10 million users and up to a billion of items shared everyday. The issue here is, it’s purely concentrated on men of the industry who are overexposed on the latest tech news. How about those average people whom you just encounter at local places? – Well, chances are they don’t know Google+ yet and still using Facebook.

This is the number one reason why Facebook still remains the omnipotent social-network site but of course, we shouldn’t be too hard on Google+ since its about to reach its third week only. Who knows how many amazing features Big G is planning to rollout on Plus for the next month to come, not to mention the service is still in beta.

I’m not going to beat behind the bush here. Deleting your Facebook account and moving to Google+ could be the most senseless and unwise move you could ever possibly do on your social-media life since the latter service is still growing, unfinished, and like a half-baked cake that still need to be put on the oven. In our previous report, we revealed our top 6 wishlist to drastically improve G+. In addition to that, I believe that as soon as Google introduce this service on the mainstream, it should collaborate with other social-media groups to advertise it even more.

Until I’ve heard my non-techie friends here wanting to join Google+, my Facebook account will always be here.

What is a Humanzee?

Oliver was called the ‘Humanzee’ and came to widespread public attention in 1976. The reason was because of his humanlike behaviour, preferring to walk on hindlegs, sit cross legged on a chair, help with chores around the house, etc. Besides that his small bald head and reduced prominence of his jaws yielded a humanoid appearance. Taken to Japan, in the mid 1970s blood tests showed that Oliver had 47 chromosomes – one more than humans, one less than chimps.

In autumn 1996, Chicago University geneticist Dr David Ledbetter revealed that Oliver had 48 chromosomes and later on, DNA analysis expert Dr John from Texas’s Trinity University also concluded that Oliver had 48 too and therefore dispelling the myth of Oliver being a mutant.

How many billion is Facebook worth in 2012 and is it heading against Google?

Facebook is now growing faster than ever as with its current funding and worth.

The social networking site had gained a new funding that is worth $500 million: Goldman Sachs gave $450 million while Russian investment firm Digital Sky Technologies have $50 million. Aside from that, it has gained more than $800 million from previous five fundings and when totalled, they have raised $1.3 billion. And now that we have seen the fundings, how much do you think it’s worth.

Facebook-worth-50-billion

Well, according to The New York Times, Facebook’s value is now worth a whopping $50 billion! Whew! Way, way bigger than other Internet establishments. But it does not end there.

When Goldman Sachs sealed the deal with FB, it promised that it will help raise $1.5 billion by creating a “special purpose vehicle” that will allow other people to invest on the biggest social networking site in the Internet. When this happens, it will help Facebook bypass the SEC regulation which requires companies with more than 499 investors to reveal to the public their financial statements.

Now that we know what Facebook is worth and how much they have gained, we ask now? What will they do with that big money they have now?

Well, we all know that Google is FB’s greates rival now as well as Microsoft. One of the theories that people are thinking is that it might use $2 billion of its new funding to cash out on its investors and employees. Second is all about the growth of Facebook. Since we’re pretty sure they want to beat Google as the bigges internet company, there might be plans on getting an expansion and hiring more employees.

In terms of expansion, one trusted source tells that it plans to purchase the Sun Microsystems campus in Menlo park, California from Oracle Corporation to have more room for their future plans. When it comes to hiring, Facebook should really do this as they only have around 2000 employees, which is very small for company that serves 500 million users and is worth $50 billion. This is one thing that they need to revamp in order to beat Google. Then it will also use its other funding for new acquisitions in 2011.

We hope Facebook will also feature new products since their rivals have already done that and are ruling the web more. Expansions such as emails, ads displays, news and more are what we expect Facebook will do to expand. They should not only focus on social networking and reach out to other markets as well. This is something to look forward to.

Can you believe this? Man Watched Child Porn on Flight

man watched child porn on flight Man Watched Child Porn on Flight

BOSTON (AP) — Police say a man who was viewing child pornography on a domestic airline flight from Salt Lake City to Boston has been arrested.

Massachusetts State Police say 47-year-old Grant Smith was sitting in first class Saturday afternoon when a fellow passenger saw the pornographic images on Smith’s laptop and alerted the flight crew.

When the Delta flight landed at Boston Logan International Airport just after 4 p.m., troopers interviewed Smith and subsequently arrested him.

He has been charged with possession of child pornography, and police say additional charges could follow. His bail is set at $15,000. He is scheduled to be arraigned Monday.

Smith was in police custody Saturday night and couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.

2012 Business News: Guess who get 99% of the total mobile phone profits

Looks like it's a grim time to be a mobile phone manufacturer if you are not Apple or Samsung. According to the latest report by Asymco, Apple and Samsung accounted for 99 percent of the total mobile phone profits, with HTC taking the remaining 1 percent.

Out of the 99 percent Apple took the majority of it with an astounding 73 percent, with Samsung being left with the remaining 26 percent despite being the world's largest mobile phone manufacturer right now. As mentioned before, HTC took 1 percent out of the total and everybody else, including RIM, Nokia, LG, Motorola and Sony Mobile reported a loss in the first quarter.

With the launch of the Galaxy S III and the HTC One series phones, these two are likely to expand their share of profits over the coming quarters. However, it is going to take quite a bit of effort to dethrone Apple from the number one position, which it has managed to maintain despite not having the greatest market share.

Is Opera 10.5: Fastest Internet Browser on Earth?

Opera isn’t too popular among web users and internet enthusiasts compared with the top three web browsers last 2009 – Internet Explorer, Mozilla and Google Chrome. With this figure in mind, it seems that Opera web browser is non-existent to the vast majority. This knowledge though may change, especially now that Opera claims that they are the fastest browser that you can ever have, well just for the meantime we guess. We bet Mozilla is on their way of launching an update version of their browser to beat Opera.

Anyway was highly curious of what Opera 10.5 has to offer,  claiming to be the fastest web browser on earth is a big claim so I wanted to check if  their claim is true. So is the Opera 10.5 really reigns as the fastest among all the browsers out there?

We have downloaded Opera 10.5 and the installation was pretty quick, it only took 5 minutes. We used it right away and tried to log in to Facebook, it was not so user friendly (or I’m just not familiar with it). So I put this browser to a test and check who can pull my favorite Facebook game the 1st. I have Google Chrome vs. Opera 10.5 and guess who won? It’s Google Chrome! It took forever for Opera to pull up the game, and it took 30 seconds for Chrome. So what is so fast about that? Want proof?

Go check it for yourself and download Opera 10.5 and Chrome and compare the difference (hope you get better results than me). Now this makes me wonder why and how did Opera came about with their claim of ‘the fastest web browser on earth’? Oh well this was not the case for  me,  add the fact that every time I chat on Facebook and click backspace Opera leads me to go back to my previous page which totally annoyed me because it happens every time I hit backspace!

Anyway Opera claims it’s the fastest due to the new JavaScript engine called Carakan and Vega for the graphics library but so far only PC’s with a Windows OS can have Opera 10.5 downloaded. You would probably love to know that Opera will have Aero Glass jump lists and Aero Peek so you can access your speed dials etcetera, that is if you’re running a Windows 7 or Vista Operating system.

So far we can say that some of the features are like Chrome too just add a little bit more features that you might find helpful, great or complicated. According to some users, Opera browser is more stable and more secured against javascript viruses proliferating the web compared with the likes of Internet Explorer. However, some complain that Opera has problems loading high-resolution graphic websites.

Sony Xperia U and Xperia sola available now in...

Sony_experia_u
Hong Kong and Taiwan are the first to get the Xperia U and Xperia sola, the first two Sony dual-core mid-range droids. The Xperia U got pushed back from the original May 7 launch date in the UK, but whatever the issues that caused it were, they didn’t affect launch in the two Asian countries.

In Hong Kong, the Sony Xperia U will set you back HK$2,498 (€246, $320), while its price in Taiwan is NT$9,900 (€259, $337). That's about as much as the phone is expected to in Europe (£204, € 260, $338).

The Sony Xperia sola which packs more features (like tracking your fingers at a distance) is pricier - Hong Kong residents can grab it for HK$2,998 (€295, $383), while people in Taiwan will have to shell out NT$10,900 (€285, $370). Those prices are for the White and Black color versions, with the red one expected to arrive later on.

Taiwan can also look forward to the Sony Xperia P, which should arrive some time in May for NT$13,800 (€360, $468). Mid-May is also when Europe (aside from the UK that is) should expect the Xperia P and U to land.

The world's top five scariest amousement park ride EVER!

Going to the amusement park can be fun for the whole family, but there's always a few rides -- excluding roller coasters -- that make people scream in terror, sometimes even before riding them. We've rounded five such rides for your viewing enjoyment. Continue reading to see them all.

5. Unnamed Attraction

This weird amusement park ride in Russia may not be as cool as these DIY roller coasters, but it will definitely have some people wetting their pants. Hopefully, the real-life soundtrack is better than what's heard in the video.

4. Slingshot

Invented by Troy Griffin in circa 1978, the slingshot, or reverse bungee, basically "consists of two telescopic gantry towers mounted on a platform, feeding two elastic ropes down to a two person passenger car constructed from an open sphere of tubular steel. The passenger car is secured to the platform with an electro-magnetic latch as the elastic ropes are stretched. When the electromagnet is turned off, the passenger car is catapulted vertically with a g-force of 3-5, reaching an altitude of between 50 and 80 metres (180-260 ft)."

3. Haunted Hospital

Not a traditional amusement park ride, but rather a walkthrough attraction of sorts. This haunted hospital equips guests with headlamps as they venture into an abandoned hospital, or is it? Let's just say that you can never bring along enough people for this type of "ride".

2. Stratosphere Insanity

Insanity the Ride is basically a "massive mechanical arm extending out 64 feet over the edge of the Stratosphere Tower at a height of over 900 feet, this Vegas ride will spin you and several other passengers in the open air at speeds of up to three 'G's."

1. Stratosphere SkyJump

Stratosphere's SkyJump is definitely the scariest ride ever, possibly even topping most roller coasters. It provides the highest controlled free fall in the world, all from the Stratosphere Casino, Hotel & Tower. Before the jump, riders are prepped and suited up in Stratosphere's custom jump suits and given a safety lesson. After short elevator trip to the top of the Stratosphere Tower, the jumper is connected to a high-speed 'descender' and led to the edge of the platform. Just take that last step and plummet through the sky 855 feet, or the equivalent of 108 floors.

The Difference & Common Misconception of Google Plus and Google Plus One.

After we posted our review for Google Plus along with our take if its a Facebook killer or not, we received several messages from our readers who are alienated with the term “Google Plus” and “Google Plus One”.

Google-plus-one
For those who are unaware, while both sound the same, the service each one provide is very different. You see, Google+ nee Google Plus works as a hub for all the new social-network services of Big G announced yesterday like sparks, hangout, etc. Meanwhile, Google +1 works like Facebook Like which you can embed on your website and when your Gmail contacts +1 a certain page, you’ll be able to see their little avatar the next time you search Google – of course – when you’re logged in with your Gmail account.

So far, Google Plus is still on its beta stage and no one knows when will Google release this to the public. Take note that once you are logged in with Plus, you’ll be able to do most of the things you can do on google like checking your email, images, shopping, etc. But of course, its focus are those circles from your friends and how you’ll be able to contact them.

At this point, pundits aren’t sure what will be the future of this project. In the case of Google Plus One, its still comparable to David compared to the Goliath that was Facebook Like.

Interestingly, Google said before that it will use “google + 1 as one of its metrics on grading a site for SEO” but so far, gurus believe its still far from happening.

The real story behind the first car invented in the world

The history of the automobile begins as early as 1769, with the creation of steam engine automobiles capable of human transport. In 1806, the first cars powered by an internal combustion engine running on fuel gas appeared, which led to the introduction in 1885 of the ubiquitous modern gasoline- or petrol-fueled internal combustion engine. Cars powered by electric power briefly appeared at the turn of the 20th century, but largely disappeared from use until the turn of the 21st century. The need to reduce the amount of air pollution generated by transportation has raised new interest in electric and hybrid vehicles. The early history of the automobile can be divided into a number of eras, based on the prevalent method of automotive propulsion during that time. Later periods were defined by trends in exterior styling, and size and utility preferences.

Pioneer inventors
German engineer Karl Benz, the inventor of numerous car-related technologies, is generally regarded as the inventor of the modern automobile, and received a German patent in 1886. The American George B. Selden filed for a patent on May 8, 1879. His application included not only the engine but its use in a 4-wheeled car. Mr. Selden filed a series of amendments to his application which stretched out the legal process, resulting in a delay of 16 years before the US 549160 [2] was granted on November 5, 1895. The four-stroke petrol (gasoline) internal combustion engine that constitutes the most prevalent form of modern automotive propulsion is a creation of German inventor Nikolaus Otto. The similar four-stroke diesel engine was also invented by a German, Rudolf Diesel. The hydrogen fuel cell, one of the technologies hailed as a replacement for gasoline as an energy source for cars, was discovered in principle by yet another German, Christian Friedrich Schönbein, in 1838. The battery electric car owes its beginnings to Hungarian Ányos Jedlik, one of the inventors of the electric motor, and Gaston Planté, who invented the lead-acid battery in 1859.

Some examples of cars of the period included

* 1908–1927 Ford Model T — the most widely produced and available car of the era. It used a planetary transmission, and had a pedal-based control system.

* 1910 Mercer Raceabout — regarded as one of the first sports cars, the Raceabout expressed the exuberance of the driving public, as did the similarly-conceived American Underslung and Hispano-Suiza Alphonso.

* 1910–1920 Bugatti Type 13 — a notable racing and touring model with advanced engineering and design. Similar models were the Types 15, 17, 22, and 23.

Exemplary vintage vehicles:

* 1922–1939 Austin 7 — the Austin Seven was one of the most widely copied vehicles ever, serving as a template for cars around the world, from BMW to Nissan.

* 1924–1929 Bugatti Type 35 — the Type 35 was one of the most successful racing cars of all time, with over 1,000 victories in five years.

* 1922–1931 Lancia Lambda — very advanced car for the time, first car to feature a load-bearing monocoque-type body and independent front suspension.

* 1925–1928 Hanomag 2 / 10 PS — early example of ponton styling, without fully articulated fenders and running boards.

* 1927–1931 Ford Model A (1927-1931) — after keeping the brass era Model T in production for too long, Ford broke from the past by restarting its model series with the 1927 Model A. More than 4 million were produced, making it the best-selling model of the era.

* 1930 Cadillac V-16 — developed at the height of the vintage era, the V16-powered Cadillac would join Bugatti’s Royale as the most legendary ultra-luxury cars of the era.

Exemplary pre-war automobiles:

* 1932–1939 Alvis Speed 20 and Speed 25 — the first cars with all-synchromesh gearbox.

* 1932–1948 Ford V-8 — introduction of the powerful flathead V8 in mainstream vehicles, setting new performance and efficiency standards.

* 1934–1940 Bugatti Type 57 — a singular refined automobile for the wealthy.

* 1934–1956 Citroën Traction Avant — the first mass-produced front-wheel drive car, built with monocoque chassis.

* 1936–1955 MG T series — sports cars with youth appeal at an affordable price.

* 1938–2003 Volkswagen Beetle — a design for efficiency and low price, which progressed over 60 years with minimal basic change.

* 1936–1939 Rolls-Royce Phantom III — V12 engined pinnacle of pre-war engineering, with technological advances not seen in most other manufacturers until the 1960s. Superior performance and quality.

You Should Know When To Remove Facebook Friends...

remove facebook friend Know When To Remove Facebook Friends
There are times in life where you overdo it, you drink too much, eat too much, smoke too much – isn’t that right, Dave Matthews? It seems to be the American way: we binge, then we purge, rinse and repeat. When you first joined Facebook, you’d friend request everyone; it didn’t matter if you saw them once on a train or high fived them at a ball game, they’re in. But then you realize you have WAY too many “friends” and they’re clogging up your real-time stream with farmville and fat baby pics. So, how do you know when to remove a Facebook friend? The folks at Living With Balls produced a flowchart that should help you out. Check it out below.
