Sony Ericsson Xperia X12 Arch landing in April on 02,UK.

The latest member of Sony Ericsson’s Xperia family, the X12 Arc, is set to hit store shelves in the UK in April on O2.

Just last week we reported a product listing o f the Arc on Play.com, which is offering the handset on preorder from April 1st. Now a holding page on the O2 website has also put the release date for the Arc as ‘Coming Soon: April’, giving smartfans a real hope for a spring release.

The Arc was unveiled earlier this month at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas and undeniably sports some of the smartest specs yet to feature on a SE handset.

Among these are a super-slim body that measures just 8.7 mm and boasts some slick curvature, which lends the phone its name, a massive 4.2-inch ‘Reality display’ touchscreen with Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine, an eight-megapixel snapper with HD recording skills and Exmor R sensor for low light snapping, an HDMI port to stream clips directly to an HDTV and up to 32GB of memory via the onboard microSD slot.

More importantly, it will run Android 2.3, AKA Gingerbread, out of the box, so there’ll be no dilly-dallying with updates whenever it ships.

Sony Ericsson is due to hold its own special event in London on February 16th while its rivals tries to impress at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. Along with the Arc, we expect the smartphone maker to officially unveil the no-longer-a-secret Xperia Play.
