The winner of the $44 million Powerball prize has come forward.
Lotto NZ confirmed on Monday the Aucklander had got in touch to claim their win.
The prize is the largest Lotto win in New Zealand history.
The winner of Saturday’s $44 million Powerball has come forward to claim their prize.
Lotto NZ announced on Monday the Auckland winner has got in touch, confirming also that the prize is the largest in Lotto New Zealand history.
Along with the $44m with Powerball, the winner also takes home $666,670 with Lotto First Division – climbing up to the number one spot won by a single ticket, previously held by a Hibiscus Coast couple who won $44.06 million in 2016.
Lotto NZ Head of Corporate Communications, Lucy Fullarton, said the total prize won is higher than originally thought on Saturday night straight after the draw.
“The lucky winner played ten lines with the same Lotto numbers, each with a different Powerball number (one through to ten). This means as well as winning Powerball First Division of $44m, they also won ten shares of Lotto First Division.”
Fullarton said they were excited to meet the lucky winner.
“We’re so excited for our newest multi-millionaire and can’t wait to meet them.”
